The LDC table at the Lakeland First Friday on August 4th was busy with children of all ages attracted to the candy bowl and adults attracted to the democratic message. The children were also given eco-pencils for their return to school. The adults were welcomed with friendly discussion, and provided with an LDC flier and opportunity to become connected and involved. For such a hot August evening, it was rewarding to have so many folks drop in and sign up, pick up LDC membership applications, and take the time to fill out and sign the Voting Registration Amendment. We can expect the coming months to be even busier, so please consider volunteering to help at the booth in September.
Modelled on the standard provided to our board of directors by the Florida Democratic Party, our new bylaws were approved by the unanimous vote of the members attending the last general membership meeting. This adopted set of bylaws allowed us to apply for recertification from the Florida Democratic Party through our Polk County Democratic Executive Committee, in order for the LDC to remain an authorized Democratic club within the State of Florida. Thank you to all who came out to support the club by voting for them.
